Now... Afraid may not quite be the right word for what this kia does NOT want to see at Halloween. It isn't like they are SCARED of them or anything, for it would be quite silly if they were given the circumstances, but its the principle of the thing.

See the thing this kia is always concerned about seeing are others dressed as clowns. This is because they have been working at the Cirque Des Étoiles for a very long time now, as a member of their troupe of clowns, and they take their job EXTREMELY seriously. The importance of the craft, of the storytelling of the clownery in situ and the joy they are supposed to bring is considered by them to be almost sacred.

This means that when they see others at Halloween, dressed as clowns, particularly scary horror movie style clowns, they are filled with frustration. After all, the horror movie franchises have caused people's perception on clowns to change, even if the scary ones look very very different to the real thing. They are supposed to bring joy and laughter, and silliness but these shells of what clowns are supposed to be does the total opposite. It makes their blood boil and every time, they have to resist the urge to go off on a tirade to whoever is with them at the time.

When they see someone dressed as a more traditional and less scary clown, it does frustrate them less, but still… It feels almost disrespectful to their profession, especially since none of these Halloween enjoyers know what it's like to go through clown school! Nor have their clown paint design been registered on their very own clown egg (google it, it’s a real thing!) as every PROPER clowns have. But they can bite their tongue on this, unlike the caricature of the horror movie clown.

Halloween is one of the holidays Valarie actually enjoys, but mostly for the costuming aspect. She loves dressing up, styling her hair and even helping others put the finishing touches on their own costumes. Its when its time to actually step out and see all the appropriately decorated shops and houses is when the fear and anxiety kicks in. From a distance it's east to appreciate all the work done to set up the decor, she just would rather appreciate it from afar. Because of bully sticking gum in her hair when she was young, anything sticky or gum-like never fails to set her on edge. It took hours to get all the gum out and no style she tried looked cute in the aftermath. It was a long month sporting the worst hair style in existence. Now in her adult years, she makes an effort to avoid any places where there's an avid amount of slime, fake or otherwise, bubbling in a cauldron, or a door-way draped in very real-like cobwebs. If present in a building with any of these present, she does her best to be nimble and stay in the part of the room that's clear of any spooky themed hazards.

My ex. He’s a literally bloodsucker. Okay not LITERAL blood sucker but like. He’s a lawyer, so close enough. Guy loves winning way too much, the last thing I need is to run into so he can argue his costume is better than mine. Seriously you don’t know stress still till you have a whole court case over who’s turn it was to do the dishes.

Ever since last Halloween, Arcana has been terrified of one particular thing. She usually isn't afraid of things, she is brave and laughs in the face of all scary things.
However, last Halloween proved that she could be afraid even if it's just of one little thing.
She's seen many frights and scares from zombies, to machete weilding maniacs. From the simple frights of good Halloween fun, only one thing she fears most of all.
It happened last Halloween, she expected to not be afraid of anything just like all of the Halloween before. This one was different, she's seen all sorts of things but this was the first time she ever saw a creepy, spooky, life-like ventriloquist dummy. It moved and talked, however no one was there controlling it.
It was strange, and scary. She saw it at one house and then another. Still with no one in sight.
She believes it was possessed by an unearthly spirit as it danced, followed and even spoke a few words.
Ever since then, she has a fear of ventriloquist dummy's.

Growing up hearing all the stories about why they made Jack-o-Lanterns in the first place. Putting those spooky thoughts of a creature lurking about into a childs head, probably wasnt the best idea. But Vale always swore she would see something peaking around the houses that didnt put a jack-o-lantern out on their front steps. Maybe it was just the paranoia playing tricks on her brain, she did tend to takes things a little too seriously. But she never did take a chance.

Many a times, buying out the last of the shop pumpkins and organizing a little carving event with the village. That way everyone takes home a jack-o-lantern they made and/or dropping the ones left behind at homes that didnt have any. Yes, the entire town thought she was a little crazy this time of the year but she was fine with that, everyone seemed to accept it and humor her. Which worked perfectly for her. Making sure every house had one the day before and making sure they all got lite before the sun set. She would go around a third time the day after to collect them all to take out into the woods for the wild life to eat.

Many of those moments she would get such an uncomfortable feeling, that would just follow her around all day. Almost like eyes watching her constantly. She would never let that stop her and slow her down. Over the years she learned to just ignore it. Even with the times of seeing something out of the corner of her eye or watching something move when it shouldnt have. Vale always make sure to never focus on what could be the glow of eyes peaking around houses, trees, whatever something could hide behind. The less she acknowledge it, the more she could focus on other things. The one memorable time of seeing a a long gnarled hand slip around the side of a building as she walked by. The moment of mental energy it took her to not immediately going looking. She would never feed into this creature. If it was something that fed on the fear it cause or even like gods of old when you believed in it, it would be able to fed just off of that.

Stingy Jack was never going to make it around their village. Whether he was actually looking for some place to rest or actually looking for someone else to take over his curse. She would make sure there was always going to be a line of defence against him.
