Ka-4586: Sammy
Sammy is a very shy Kiamara, who was very nervous about moving to a new village because his greatest wish was to have a best friend. In his old town, Sammy used to sit on the edges of the cobblestone path and watch the other Kiamara younglings play. The others were friendly with him, of course. They would smile politely when he bashfully said hi on his way past. But none of them were close friends with him, and none of them were his very best friend, the kind he had read about in story books.
Sammy had seen that some of the younglings would hang out in twos and threes, best friends going off and having fun adventures together. Best friends could always rely on each other, and loved each other no matter what. Nothing would make a best friend leave you. But Sammy didn’t have a best friend, not yet. And now he was moving to a little village where he didn’t know anybody. It was all quite scary for such a quiet and shy Kiamara.
Sammy’s parents had encouraged him to go out and talk to other younglings. They wanted him to make friends to play with. But Sammy was so painfully shy that it was very hard for him. Perhaps this move to a new village would be good for him. He could make a new start, and do his best to meet other younglings and make some friends. Maybe he could even make a very best friend, someone he could count on no matter what. For the first time in a very long time, Sammy felt hopeful about his future, and that he actually had a chance at fulfilling his biggest wish.
