Perma-Buff Guide

During your travels in Solaria, your characters will come across a variety of different items that can provide a wide range of buffs. Characters are able to obtain these buffs from in-game items or taking part in specific quests to obtain said buffs. In this guide, we will cover the permanent buffs that can attach to your character, how to obtain them, and what they can do to give you an advantage in your journey!

There are currently 4 different perma buffs types that you can obtain outside of powers, blessings, and curses which have their own dedicated guide here.
They are:

  • BFF and Bloodline Buff
  • Soulbound Buff
  • Mateship Buffs
  • Buff Scrolls

Unlike powers, these buffs are unable to be passed down through generations of characters and tend to not be able to be removed from the character they are attached to.

BFF and Bloodline BUFF:

All quests only allow for one character per quest to be able to roll based on the drawn/written quest entry. Even if these show another within the piece of art/literature, if you wanted to make a quest entry for the secondary character for the same quest you would have to draw/write another unique entry.

Best Friends and Bloodline is a way around that!

The Best Friends buff allows you to draw/write two linked characters together in a single quest entry and be allowed to submit it twice if they meet the requirements for both the quest and the buff; once for each character. This means if you tend to write entries where one of your characters interacts with another or you like drawing pieces with two characters, they can now be accepted twice!
The Best Friends buff can only be obtained by the quest “A Friend In Need” found in the Community Hall.

Bloodline is a new buff that can be acquired by using the item in a claim! This buff can only be obtained by the focus kiamara and either their Parents, Siblings, or Offspring and can only be attached to one other family member at a time. Just like the Best Friends buff that allows you to submit it twice if they meet the requirements for both the quest and the buff; once for each character, this is an additional buff that can be used for these family groups only. If you already have a Best Friends buff attached to characters that have the relationship of being Siblings or a parent and child, you can use the claim system to have the Best Friends buff exchanged for the Bloodline buff. You can have both the Best Friends buff and the Bloodline buff active on the same character at the same time, but the buff does not stack if both buffs are used to connect the same characters together.

You can claim this buff by doing the following:

  • Once you have your Familial Fragrance Potion, make sure it can be found in your inventory
  • Next, after ensuring it is in your inventory, you'll want to  make a claim here.
  • On this claim, you will need to input the following information:
    • The URL links to both characters you want this buff attached to.
    • A link to proof of approval from the other characters owner, should they be owned by anyone other than yourself.
    • Selecting the Familial Fragrance Potion in the Add-ons section of your claim.
  • Click submit! A member of staff will sort your claim in up to 5 days from the time you post the claim.

How to use these buffs in quests:

Standard Requirements:
Artwork: For art pieces, the artwork requirements apply to both characters in the piece. For example, if a piece requires ‘A sketchy, flatcoloured bust of the character’ then both characters must meet this requirement.

Writing: For written works, you must double the word count of the quest requirement and have the character active throughout the piece. For example, if a quest requires 300 words minimum, you must write 600 words minimum and include the second character throughout the story.

Enhanced Requirements:
Art: For art pieces, artwork requirements apply to both Kias in the piece. For example, if a piece requires “A sketchy, flatcoloured fullbody of the character” then both characters must meet this requirement. They must also be shown on the same background if the quest requires one.

Writing: For written works, you must add half the word count on top of the minimum word count. This means, if the quest asks for 600 words minimum, you must write 900 words minimum and include the second character throughout the story for the buff to count.

Soulbound BUFF:

During your travels in Solaria, you may become attached to certain characters you obtain along the way to the point you never want them to leave you. This is where soulbinding comes in.

A buff that is only obtainable from the "Soulbound" quest in Benji's Shrine, this buff permanently attaches your character to your account, making them unsellable/ungiftable/untradable (*1). In return, you also get the choice of one of two buffs that you can choose from during the quest. They are:

Buff: Soulbound Bloodline

Kiamara Buff Ability: Grants a +3 to all traits passable by this character during breedings.

Dromedairy Buff Ability: Grants a +5 chance for their colour palette to be passed on to offspring, regardless of their biome type.

Buff: Soulbound Adventurer

Buff Ability: 7% chance for the character to obtain a small amount of currency from all quests:

You can only choose one buff per character during a soulbinding and this buff cannot be changed after it has been chosen.

This buff doesn’t have any additional requirements to be used; as long as your character has this attached to their profile (like this) and you add it to the quest entry comments section (for Soulbound Adventurer) or you mention it in your breeding request (For Soulbound Bloodlines) it will be included.

Mateship BUFF:

Droma and ‘Maras are no strangers to finding love and looking for their "one true love", or sometimes "loves", and mateships are the perfect way to show off those strong bonds. The mateship buff can be obtained between 2-3 characters, making those characters unable to breed with those outside of their mateship (unless using a Fling Trinket).

You can break up a mateship between two/three characters at any time for any reason, however, once they have a broken relationship they are unable to be mated to the same character/s for 6 months. After this time has passed, they will once again be eligible to form a mateship again with the character/s.

On top of this, characters that go through with a Mateship Ceremony will obtain the following buffs:

Buff: Unwavering

Kiamara Buff Ability: When used in a breeding with another Kiamara in the mateship, this buff will grant +5 to all traits passable from this Kiamara. Does not stack if the other Kiamara has the same trait.

Dromedairy Buff Ability: Grants a 7% chance for a hybrid colour palette to pass to offspring when used in a breeding with another Dromedairy in the mateship. Also gains a 3% chance for a colour palette of another biome different to all parents involved in the mateship to be granted to offspring.

Buff: Deep Connection

Buff Ability: When used in a quest, the user will gain a 5% chance to obtain either an Offering of Love orFling Trinket

The Unwavering buff doesn’t have any additional requirements to be used; as long as your character has this attached to their profile (listed in Buffs) and you mention it in your breeding request it will be included.

The Deep Connection buff does have additional requirements to be used in quests.

How to use the Deep Connection buff in quests:

Art Requirements:
For art pieces, for the buff to be active you will need to draw an additional bust of one of the other characters in the mateship. They must be seen having a conversation with the focus character.

Writing Requirements:
For written works, for the buff to be active you will need to write an additional 100 words on top of the minimum word requirement. You also must have one of the other characters in the mateship involved in the story and they and the focus character must be seen having a conversation with one another.

Buff Scrolls:

Buff Scrolls are a type of item that, once attached to your character, can give them a permanent buff. These buffs are usually given out through crafting or purchased from shops. The types of buff they can give are dependent on what item you have.

You can see all current Buff Scroll items here!

These buffs also do not require any additional requirements in quests to have the buff applied. Simply mention in the quest entry comments section what buffs the character has and it will be applied to your quest entry

How to attach a buff scroll to a character:

  • Once you have your Buff Scroll, make sure it can be found in your inventory
  • Next, after ensuring it is in your inventory, you'll want to  make a claim here.
  • On this claim, you will need to input the following information:
    • The name of the Buff Scroll you wish to attach to a character
    • A link to the character you want the buff to be attached to
  • Click submit! A member of staff will sort your claim in up to 5 days from the time you post the claim.
