Newcomers Hut

The World of Solaria has been home to Kiamaras and Dromedairies of all colours, shapes, and creeds for thousands of years and the Calamity makes no change to that. New friendships have blossomed, Kiamaras from faraway lands have made Solaria their home and new creatures have littered the valleys with community spirit and kindness. 'Maras and Droma on Solaria are unbound by any type of restriction and forge their destinies in any way they see fit.

Even though they feel at home in their new surroundings, some things remain a mystery. One of these mysteries is the rifts that pop up randomly around the land, letting all sorts of creatures, even Kiamaras and Dromedairies from other realms, step foot in Solaria for the first time.  Animal-esque creatures that made their way through one of these portals would usually be captured for the manahunter's and 'Maras and Droma that stepped through, known as the original Rift Jumpers, are directed to the Newcomers Hut!

The Newcomer's Hut is a little hut in the heart of the capital of Solaria, Pandrea, that was set up shortly after the Calamity. There, Serah and Benji help both Rift Jumpers and younger Solarians get a start on their adventures in Solaria.

The Feather Trial

Requires: Level 1 Only

7IiWYIZ.png

Ah, welcome young one! It’s nice seeing the younglings and Rift Jumpers that arrive through my doors leave with feathers in hand. How are you feeling? Nervous? Excited? Either way, many have walked the path laid before you and many more will walk it after you - you’ve got what it takes to brave the Trial ahead.

Now, a little bit about feathers to get you up to speed. Legend tells us that these were bestowed on us by Hyjal, the Order, to help us on our adventures, to help us find our loved ones, and even start a family of our own. In these tales, you could only obtain a feather by showing an act of bravery. Truth be told, this is a little farfetched. The Inturos, a race who no longer walk these lands, gave them to us as trinkets for one reason or another. It appears that our ancestors loved these trinkets so much a tradition was born to pass them down as accessories from generation to generation. Some show what family you belong to, others are gifts from loved ones, and some were simply plucked from the ground because the finder thought they were pretty. As these stories were passed down from parent to child, fact turned into the fiction we all know today.

Since the Calamity, the legends of them being more than trinkets have seemingly mixed into reality and we are still unsure as to why… All we know is without them, we cannot walk by ourselves outside of our home cities, cannot seem to partake in events, or even make a family of our own just like the tales passed down through each generation about their origins. Except for those two who came from beyond the Calamity… And part of me feels that the Rift Jumpers, those in Solaria who either fell through a rift or just those amongst the first to take a feather trial are the key… Due to the new dangers the Rifts that the calamity has brought only adult ‘Maras and Droma like you can walk the Trial. So, young one, are you ready to show your bravery and take the next step in your journey”

How does your character prove their might?

  • Do they fight in an epic battle to gain their feathers?
  • Do they overcome a great fear of theirs?
  • Maybe they are trying to help another find their way in Solaria, despite fearing their surroundings?
  • Perhaps they search deep within Bootleg Bog for a hidden treasure despite potentially coming across a trap?
  • Do they hunt for answers as to where the strange ‘Mara and Droma came from near the rift?
  • Or do they decide to do something many consider simple; ask for help on their trial?

Feathers In Solaria
Feathers in Solaria were once an item that many considered an accessory to both ‘Mara and Droma with a sentimental meaning behind them, similar to a friendship bracelet or the passing down of a family member’s expensive necklace. These trinkets now unlock a world of possibilities for your 'Mara or Droma in Solaria.

Once your character conquers the Feather Trial, new doors open for them. Once their feathers are added to their masterlist image, your character can take part in more level-appropriate quests, participate in exciting events, and expand your character’s family through breedings or NMYO slots. After taking part in their Feather Trial, your ‘Mara or Droma will also have the ability to take part in Feather Hunts which will allow them to upgrade their feathers further, unlocking more doors for them in the future.

Requires: Level 2 Minimum

"Hey there, Riftie, it's yer good ol’ friend Sal. Ya know I've been in the trade business for quite a while now, an’ I've learned a thing or two about the value of certain items. Feathers, believe it or not, can be incredibly profitable in the right market. Sure, if ya give them to any ol’ fella out there a feather will turn ta phoenix dust. An’ yeah, that fella Benji sure likes talkin’ about how Rift Jumpers are the key to unlockin’ the secrets of the Calamity an’ feathers can be the key to yadda yadda yadda. But there's something special about that powder that most find useless, somethin’ magical, and it's something that some people like myself are willing to pay a pretty penny for.

So, if ya ever come across any spare feathers durin’ yer hunts, I'd be more than happy to chat with you about the possibilities. I'm always on the lookout for valuable items, an’ feathers are no exception. Plus, I believe in fairness. If yer got feathers to sell, I'm more than willing to share the profit with yer. It's all about working together an’ ensuring that everyone benefits from a good deal. What’s that look about? Don’t ya trust a good ol' friend like me, Riftie?

Now, there's one thing yer should keep in mind: whatever ya do, don't go to Mads at The Mad Market and use his ‘brumble wax’ on those feathers. It might be tempting to be able to give ‘em to yer friends and family without them turnin’ to dust, but they are more valuable without it, sellin’ aside. It's not worth the risk. Feathers can open up some interesting opportunities, an’ I'm all ears if ya got something to discuss.

Just remember, in Solaria, the right information an’ connections can make all the difference... So, if yer ever looking to turn a feather into a profitable venture, ya know where to find me "

With Sal’s words in mind, what does your character wish to go for: Profit or Prophecy?

  • Do they believe Benji’s hypothesis that they will be among the ones to help Solaria post-calamity?
  • Does the allure of Credits get them through their potentially hazardous adventures?
  • Maybe they believe the path to helping Solaria to lie in a Mythic Feather and will go through anything to get it?
  • Do they think that if they collect enough feathers for Sal, they will obtain the secret behind the Phoenix Dust?
  • Perhaps they decide once they have the feather what to do with it; keep it, or sell it?
  • Or do they want to just get a feather to go to Mads with anyway, to give it to a loved one?

Feather Offerings

Requires: Level 4 Minimum

"Well hey there, Rift Jumper! It's been a while since you and I have had the chance to talk. I'm sure that Benji has been talking all about his prophecy and Sal has been trying to get you to give up any feathers you find too. Well, there is a bit of truth to both of them we have found! Since those two strangers came walking through the Calamity, we have found something special going on. Similar to how if a couple who wishes to try for a kit or a calf will leave an offering in a special place and wait for their newest family member to arrive, some people have been leaving feathers as offerings or simply because they don't know what else to do with them.

However, the strangest thing about it is that we have been getting word from those who want to go on Feather Hunts that they seemingly can find rare and unique treasures by offering up these feathers. Not much is truly known as to how or why, with Benji only recently figuring out that some of them seem to have been limited to a certain period of time. These differ between the different feather types you can obtain in Solaria, but as for anything else... Well, we hope this is where you come in riftie! I know you can keep the feathers for the prophecy, sell them to Sal, or even just have them coated to help someone else out, but this new way of using feathers may come in handy!

Luckily, Sal has also been tracking these apparent offerings. He tells us that it's because he wants to 'Help us all out with this whole Feather situation that ya always keep naggin' about', but between you and me I truly think it's where he wants to profit off of it, especially with the huge amount of feathers he probably has stockpiled back at the Trade Shack... Anyway, he has kept on track some of the rewards that you can get from these feathers for you should you wish to offer them. We'll be sure to update this list if Sal finds out anything else!"
