Era FT

Era sighed as her phone rang again. She was trying to wallow in her self-pity at the moment. She rolled over and hit the answer button, “What do you want?” she snapped.

“Well, well, Miss Attitude today,” Tobi’s voice came from the phone, and Era felt a flash of emotion realizing it was him. “I wanted to inform you that I may have a job lined up for you, unless you're no longer interested?” he emphasised ‘wanted’ and she could imagine the annoyed face he had. She rolled her eyes at the thought and rolled over onto her elbows to speak into the phone more clearly.

“Hi Tobi, Im sorry for snapping,” she mumbled, “I am still looking for a job, yes. What kind of gig is it?” Tobi had some.. Questionable contacts. But he was also a bartender at a Rave-themed joint. So she didnt know what she expected. He did that annoyed sigh he always did when she pouted at him, and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes again, even though he couldn't see her. “Well, I know you said you weren't comfortable working at the bar, BUT, we suddenly need a new bouncer,” he said matter-of-factly, like there was no way she would refuse. She sighed, A bouncer? She hadn’t wanted to work in the bar because there were plenty of creepy dudes who liked to hit on her when she went and visited Tobi, but as a bouncer? She was starting to get a bit desperate as her bills were starting to pile up. What's the worst that could happen?

Almost as if he could read her mind, Tobi started talking again. “You would be paid hourly, and can probably bargain for at least $20 since you're female, and will be provided with protection, like a taser and pepper spray, you will never work a shift alone, and you will always have a backup bouncer with you. You’ll also get...” Era started tuning him out at that point. She was hesitant because she had never done this kind of work before. But how bad could it be? Just checking ID’s didnt sound that hard.

“I’ll take it,” she said, cutting Tobi off. He sighed inthe way he did when he was annoyed again. “Alright, Whenever your ready, come down tonight, and I'll introduce you to the manager. Try to be here before 5 p.m. when doors open so you don thave to fight the crowd.” She hated it when he used his lecture voice, but refrained from saying anything sassy back.

“You got it, Tobi,” she said before hanging up and getting up to close the window before changing. A slight breeze had blown in a few leaves. Pickingthem up, she realized one of them was a Bright little feather. She tucked it behind her ear before throwing the leaves back out and then heading to her closet to pick out an outfit.
