If there is one thing Tilie loves to do for fun, it is setting off to explore this immense garden in search of the biggest and most beautiful treasure of all.
Today, she is searching for the very legendary giant carrot she once heard about in her storybook. It is said to be a carrot over one meter long, orange and covered in red stripes that shine in the sunlight like polished stone, and above all, a vegetable that can only be found on the first day of April.
Armed with her little blue shovel decorated with duck patterns (very chic, very trendy!), a pair of round-tipped scissors, and a helmet (safety first!), but most importantly also a bottle of fresh water accompanied by a few cakes (it’s almost snack time!), Tilie ventures into the shadiest corners of the garden, where no one goes anymore because the brambles have taken over the place.
Very quickly, she spots a few carrots sticking out of the ground thanks to their distinctive tops. After a few snips of her scissors to clear a path through the brambles, the young Kiamara gets to work digging them up with expert shovelfuls, but every single one turns out to be an entirely ordinary carrot.
Annoyed but still determined, Tilie keeps searching before stumbling upon something interesting: the carrot tops she sees seem to shine faintly. Could it be the legendary giant carrot? She rushes toward it with renewed excitement, but it is short-lived: once again, it is a failure—it is in fact the smallest carrot she has ever seen.
Frustrated, Tilie drives her shovel into the ground with a grumble. But to her great surprise, the shovel seems to strike something hard that is not just soil or carrot. The young Kiamara examines the area curiously: what could it possibly be? Once again, she gets to work, and then—surprise! It is not a carrot at all, but indeed a small treasure chest!
Carefully, Tilie opens the box: inside is a rabbit plush covered in dust. Although it seemed old, the plush showed signs of careful mending here and there, proving that its previous owner had taken great care of it and cherished it enough to repair the damage caused by age.
Though she does not know its story, Tilie guesses it must have been a very precious toy for it to end up literally inside a treasure chest and the more she looks at it, the more Tilie thinks the plush resembles her, with its big gray ears, brown button eyes sewn in place, and its little pom-pom tail.
Satisfied with her discovery, the young Kiamara packs up her things and turns back. She had not found the legendary giant carrot, but she had definitely found herself a new friend.
