Gatawoos were one of the first initial splicing tests made by the Inturos. Trying to combine a canine with the strength of a crocodile, they hypothesised that they would be able to create a companion species that was able to be a protector, yet also a loveable companion. Instead, they got Gatawoos. Labeled as the Solarian Good Boys, these furry creatures want nothing but to laze about all day, eat, and cuddle. They are without a doubt one of the easiest pets to look after with how little care they truly need, however, they are also the neediest and constantly want attention when not sleeping or eating. Gatawoos were later a domesticated house pet that was only slightly more popular than Lampyres given their laid-back personalities and the companionship they bought. Now, Gatawoos tend to help their 'Mara friends out by being a source of entertainment, trying to always put a smile on their faces.
ANATOMY:
Think of the most non-scary parts of both a crocodile and a dog put together - there you have a Gatawoo. With stumpy and chunky legs, these pets usually waddle rather than walk with their large tails swaying side-to-side. They have the face of a crocodile, with their behavior more akin to a puppy than a croc, always expressing their happiness for being with their owners. They support a ridged back and large tail that was inherited from their green ancestors and this is usually used to help swim extraordinarily fast. Instead of scales on their underbelly, Gatawoos have long fur that often gets matted without care and attention to it, often leading to many Gatawoos loving belly rubs from a young age. Scales can be seen throughout their fur, often appearing in clusters on their limbs, torso, and face.
Gatawoos often come in a variety of colours, often sporting the designs of natural dog breeds as well as sporting the colouration of regular crocodiles. Some Gatawoos have reported having a more turquoise hue than others, which seems to be a growing mutation within the species.
