Lampyre

Miscellaneous

LORE:

During the Inturos era, Lampyres were kept as small household creatures and were considered rather complex pets to look after. Due to their overall mischievous nature and love for causing chaos and havoc they were, and still are to this day, a rather annoying yet loveable pet to have around. Moreoftenthannot, these pets were given to young Inturos as starter pets, with many being returned or given to master Lampyre keepers to look after as their young owners would come to find they're a lot of hard work. After the many, many years since the Inturos had vanished, whilst still easily domesticated the species has returned to their natural migration patterns, often living in the northern parts of Solaria during the Summer, and migrating to the south for the winter. During spring and fall, many can be found in Lilika Outlook, eating the Applen Blossoms and Fruits that are abundant there. Many Lampyres now attach themselves to Kiamaras as companion pets, often helping them on their travels.

Anatomy:

Lampyres are a rather odd species where they look almost like a Kit's drawing of a House Cat mixed with a Lightning Bug. Sporting two small, triangular ears and wide eyes, these little critters can make those with even the darkest of hearts fall in love with their cute faces. Whilst they do not have a nose, they can taste sents through their mouth located directly between the eyes. These friendly furballs are often pudgy with small, rounded feet that often have heart or star-shaped paw pads, though they are rarely seen walking. They have a large bulb on their rump that emits a soft light. Whilst this light is constant, the intensity is often dependent on the mood the Lampyre has with Happy and Angry being bright, whilst sad and tired are dim. This bulb also seems to always be humming and emitting a vibrant gas, and it is this gas that is believed to not only give off their luminous glow but also enable them to fly without wings.

Each Lampyre is unique in both pattern, bulb colour, and hair tuft style, though there seems to be a pattern amongst all Lampyres that they are all naturally coloured, with their fur only being able to take on a pelt that can be seen in regular House Cats. Their bulbs, cheek markings, eye colour, and paw pads also seem to all share the same colouration. And finally, the tuft on their head is always uniquely shaped to another Lampyres.
