Base Camp
Welcome Solarians!
It’s been a bit chaotic here at base camp all morning and man am I glad you got our request for help. As many of you know, we’ve been hard at work excavating the quarry found by Elijah and a few other scouts from the Manahunter’s Guild. We have a talented team of researchers down at the quarry who have been uncovering a bunch of relics and fossils. We are still trying to determine if the quarry is native to Solaria or if it was a result of one of the many rifts caused by the calamity.
However, we’ve run into a few issues. We’ve lost contact with the teams down at the quarry and are short handed so we have no one who can go investigate. On top of all that, we have quite a few different things that need to be addressed here at base camp if you don’t mind lending a hand? Serah’s over at the stock tent with a few wares for trade and can tell you more about the specific tasks that need to be handled. Or you can stop in with G’ma who seems to have her hands full with one too many hatchlings.
Gearing Up
Requires: Level 2
6 entries per user Per Day
As you navigate your way around the base camp, you are flagged down by a ‘mara in Manahunter’s robes.
“Hey! You’re the back-up they sent for, right? Name’s Servik but we don’t have time for chit-chat. I’m sure you’ve been filled in about the basics but we really need you to get geared up and hiking to the quarry ASAP. The longer it takes us to get to the researchers, the more likely it is that things are going to go sideways. Take a rucksack, get packed up, and get moving.”
You’re ushered over to the edge of the camp, towards a pile of supplies - empty rucksacks, various tools, snacks, maps, and more. You’re not given much more instructions besides to get packed up and go. Guess you should get to packing, huh?
How does your character prepare before leaving?
- Do they decide to fill their rucksack with nothing but snacks?
- Maybe they bring an extra change of clothes in case they get dirty on the way?
- Perhaps they choose to prepare for the worst and bring extra weapons and potions?
- Maybe they decide to take a quick nap at the base camp before heading out?
- Or maybe they get distracted with flurry of others moving around and head out without packing anything of use?
Standard Art Requirements:
Must be at least a sketched, flat-coloured halfbody. Must show the rucksack they are bringing with them. Must also show two items that they have packed before leaving camp.
Standard Writing Requirements:
Must be at least 400 words in length. Must mention the name of your character. Must mention what their rucksack looks like. Must mention two items they packed before leaving camp and why they packed them.
Come back next week when this area is open!

Nest Search
1 entry per user Per Day
No eNTRY Requirements - No Pets/No Powers/No Add-Ons
While on your way to find a new quest to do you feel something or more like someone bump into your leg. At first you don’t see who it is until you hear a very loud shout.
“GUS!”
Upon seeing Gus you can’t help but wonder if he needed something, it’s not everyday the tiny robot runs into people. He climbs onto a nearby tree stump and continues trying to inform you about something.
“Gus gus! Gus...gus gus.”
You tilt your head in confusion, what is he trying to tell you? Gus gets a little upset and attempts to nudge you towards something, he’s unable to fully move you considering he’s a tiny robot but you get the idea of what he’s trying to do. You glance over to the area he was trying to show you, to your confusion it just looks like a normal field of grass.
“GUS! GUS!”
Gus grabs your attention again, he uses the sun by reflecting it off himself to point out some kind of…nest? Or an isolated one at that. The sunlight seems to bounce off something in the nest, perhaps it could be something important. Once you notice it Gus can’t help but continue to lead you towards it.
“Gus gus gus!”
Perhaps it couldn’t hurt to check it out.
Critter Tracking
Requires: Level 2
3 entries per user Per Day
“Hey riftie! Mind helping us with something?”
You hear a familiar voice in the distance, as you glance up you see Serah who is accompanied by Gus. You head over to see what they might need help with. As you approach you notice slight footprints scattered about, each one different in its own way. As you point them out Gus comes over and runs over to what seems like three different paths the mysterious footprints break off into.
“Gus gus!”
Serah lets out a laugh and chimes in to explain each path.
“Seems like Gus has shown you what we needed your help with. There’s these strange creature footprints each leading to different areas, the first one are these large footprints that leave deep marks in the ground. They seem to lead over towards those hilly plains in the distance. The second group is more difficult to follow due to the footprints leading into the woods and being somewhat smudged by the different thin fluffy feathers scattered around them. The third group is more easy to follow as you can see by the muddy footprints that still hold a bit of water in them. Gus and I assume it leads to a nearby body of water.”
“Gus gus gus!”
You look at the different trails and ponder what kind of creatures left them before looking towards Serah, wondering if she has any more information to share.
“That’s all I know Rifite, perhaps you can put your tracking skills to good use?”
Which set of tracks does your character decide to follow?
- Do they follow the large tracks that head towards the hills?
- Maybe they decide to collect the scattered feathers as they head into the woods?
- Or do they choose to trek through the muddy trail leading down towards the nearest river or pond?
Standard Art Requirements:
Must at least be a sketchy, flat-coloured bust of your character. Must show the type of tracks they are trying to track - this can be something as simple as a feather, fish, river, hill, etc. Must mention in the submission comment whether they were trying to follow the Aquatic, Large, or Feathered tracks to avoid any potential confusion.
Standard Writing Requirements:
Must be at least 250 words in length. Must mention the character's name. Must mention the type of tracks they are trying to track - this can be something as simple as a feather, river, hill, etc. Must mention in the submission comment whether they were trying to follow the Aquatic, Large, or Feathered tracks to avoid any potential confusion.
Fossil Rejuvenation
Requires: Level 2
1 Entry Per USer
No Pets/No Powers/No Add-Ons
As you enter the stock tent you are greeted with a wave by Serah.
“Hey there Riftie! Have you heard the exciting news of a new skeletal fossil being found at the dig site? It’s not exactly a complete fossil but we were given a rough sketch of what they managed to recover so far. Many of us around base camp have been creating theories on what the fossil could belong to. There’s been quite a few different interpretations on where the creature would have resided. Like if it ran on land, swam in the deepest parts of the sea, or soared high up in the sky above the clouds!”
While Serah lists the different possibilities you can’t help but ponder about what the creature might have looked like. Was it a big creature capable of shaking the ground just by walking or a super tiny creature who used bushes for shelter? The possibilities are endless especially with how different all the other critters you’ve seen throughout Solaria look. Just as you start going into deep thought about the different possibilities your attention is brought back to Serah as she continues to talk about the new skeletal fossil.
“Well I suppose we will just have to leave it to the researchers to figure out what creature the fossil belongs to. Although..it would be super cool to give a tour around the dig site and educate ‘Mara’s on the new fossil once it’s done being studied!”
You can practically see Serah’s excitement written on her face.
“Heh.. I may have gotten a bit carried away. What about you Riftie? What do you think the creature looked like?”
What kind of creature do you think the fossil in the sketch above belongs to?
- Was it a lumbering, fluffy beast that lived in the mountains?
- Maybe it was a scaled, water dwelling creature with large fins and a long tail?
- Perhaps it was covered in feathers but couldn't fly due to it's size?
Standard Art Requirements:
Must at least be a sketchy, full body of the creature. Color is optional. Must include notes about the creature's key features. You may include name suggestions for the creature.
Standard Writing Requirements:
Must be at least 200 words in length. Must explain what the creature looks like. Must include notes about the creature's key features. You may include name suggestions for the creature.

“Hello again Rift Jumper! Your timing is perfect, look at our newest batch of tiny little Manitodon and Tetraiasaur kids! These little cuties are so adorable, such lovely patterns and colors.”
You look in awe at all the new little Manitodon and Tetraiasaur kids as they stumble over their paws and tails. As you look up from the new kiddo’s you notice G’ma sorting one of the new Mantiodon and Tetraiasaur kids. You ask her about why she’s sorting them.
“Ah, well as much as I adore these new kiddo’s I gotta make sure I have them all in one place! It’s also very helpful when noting down any new patterns or colors spotted on each of these youngins. Speaking of..I think a few of the kiddo’s went off to explore."
You look around noticing G’ma was in fact right, a few of the Manitodon and Tetraiasaur’s were more spread out then they were a few seconds ago. Who knew such little guys could be so quick?
“Would you be such a dear and help me sort these little critters? After we get all of them in one place it should be easier for us to document all the new patterns. Perhaps you’ll make a few new pals with the kiddo’s. So what do you say Rift Jumper, mind helping me out?”
After seeing how cute the new Manitodon and Tetraiasaur kids were, how could you say no.?
What does the hatchling look like?
- Do they have a bright, swirling pattern?
- Maybe they have a pelt that resembles another creature?
- Perhaps they have a subtle, simple pattern?
Standard Requirements:
Must be a color-in of the provided base. Must use at least 3 different colors - eye color does not count towards this . Each entry must have unique, distinguishable markings. Simple ombre/fade designs or repeated similar designs will be rejected.
